MUFOCO – Unveiling a digital archive

2024 - Interactive Exhibition Visit Project
The Mufoco Museum, Italy's first public museum dedicated to contemporary photography, has undergone a significant transformation with Dotdotdot's innovative project. This new multimedia digital archive enhances accessibility, allowing intuitive navigation through a vast collection of visual heritage. The interactive installation includes a large multimedia wall with touch functionality, enabling visitors to explore thousands of digitized images from Mufoco's 40 photographic fonds. The experience is enriched with immersive sound design, providing an intimate and emotional connection to the exhibits. The redesign also focuses on inclusivity, featuring modular, mobile, and reconfigurable furniture for flexible and independent use of space. The augmentative alternative communication graphic system and digital signage, including a wayfinding system, ensure smooth orientation for all visitors, including those with cognitive disabilities. This project combines culture and accessibility, making the Mufoco Museum more functional, welcoming, and human.
